The documentary Food Inc is all about where our food comes. Correction: how our food is manufactured. Now, I don’t mean how cheese puffs or bubble gum is made. I’m talking about the “real” stuff… the “natural” stuff that isn’t really supposed to be manufactured. Chicken. Beef. Corn. Where do these things come from? How are they grown? What are the animals fed and how do they live? How does this affect us and why should we care? What you find out is sure to surprise you.
There were two things I was scared about before watching this movie. One was that I was going to see animals being slaughtered and the other was that I was going to be so grossed out that I never wanted to eat meat again. Thankfully, neither of those things happened. There is some animal death in the movie but it wasn’t enough to make me cringe.
So I’m still a meat eater, but I feel like I need to make better decisions about what meat I am eating. After watching Food Inc I was excited to find cage free chicken & eggs at my local grocery store! I am also a huge fan of Stonyfield yogurt.
I feel like I need to shout it from the roof tops that people should see this movie! It is so important and it affects each of us every single day. You have a right to know what is in your food and how it is raised! Love yourself and your body enough to see this film.
It may seem like there isn’t much we can do to change the way our food is manufactured, but we do have a voice. It is an extremely loud voice. You have the chance to speak that voice every time you go to the grocery store. I plan on speaking my voice by purchasing more humanly grown meat and organic yogurt!
