Feelin' Frugal: Take the Hotel Shampoo!

Every time I travel I take whatever hotel room freebies I can.  I figure that the cost of these things was already factored into my room, so why not?  In the past I have taken notepads, matches, coffee, lotion, mouth wash, and bar soap.  However, the one thing that I just can’t leave behind is shampoo!

I adore taking the little bottles of shampoo and conditioner because they come in really handy!  I pull out my hotel shampoo whenever I…

Take a quick trip!  If I am traveling somewhere, but I’m not staying in a hotel, the little bottles of shampoo help me pack light.

Am too lazy busy to go to the store!  More than anything else I use my hotel shampoo to stretch out my shopping trips.  There have been plenty of times that my hotel shampoo has saved me from having to make a special trip to the store, which ends up saving me time and money!

What is your favorite thing to snag from your hotel room?

  1. On our way home from our weekend away I realized that I forgot to take the shampoo/conditioner and other samples in the bathroom! UGH! They even had great tea bags that I forgot to grab.

  2. My husband’s favorite thing to take is the pens but he loads up on everything. On our honeymoon he snagged everything every day so it would be replenished each day.

Another great place to apply this ritual is the hospital—when our son was born we came home with more hospital stuff than gifts! We have several thermometers and nose sucker things plus all kinds of other things. I just realized the other day that my husband will be on his plunder expedition again soon.

    1. Jennifer, I did the same thing on my honeymoon! It is 5 years later and I still have some of the bubble bath! The tub in our apartment was so small that it wasn’t relaxing AT ALL to use it. Thankfully, the new house’s tub is much nicer. Maybe I’ll use up that bubble bath this weekend!

  3. I went to a hotel once that had all Bath and Body works washes, shampoos, and hair conditioners! The another place they had a Kiss my Face collection. Sometimes those things are great brands 🙂

  4. I have taken the shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soaps. If Dave or I have not used them whenever the request comes thru our church for items for homeless shelters, we then donate them to that.

  5. Rebekah, you are aware of my mothers… um… eccentricities. She has always stocked up on hotel soap where ever she goes. She melts down similar smelling soaps around the Holidays and molds them into new cute shapes and gives them away as gifts.
