Toothbrush Colorblind

*standing up*

Hello, everyone.  My name is Rebekah and I struggle to remember the color of my toothbrush.

What?  I’m the only one???

Seriously, I have a history of using the wrong toothbrush.  I once spent a couple months living in France and the one night I had to share a room with someone at the end of the trip, I use her toothbrush.

Once I brought home my brother-in-law’s toothbrush and used it for over a week before it got back to me that I had the wrong one!

My husband and I go to the same dentist and lately I’ve been struggling with the toothbrush color selection that they offer.

Several months ago Nate went to the dentist and came home with a green toothbrush.  No problem since I was using a purple one, except…  The color I had before purple was green.  Every. single. time. I went to brush my teeth I had a moment of panic trying to remember if I was suppose to use the green one or purple one.

Last month I went to the dentist and made a special color request to be sure that I would know which toothbrush was mine.  It was wonderful!  I brought home a brand new blue toothbrush and was thrilled since Nate & I hadn’t used that color before.

A couple weeks later Nate goes to the dentist.

He brings home a blue toothbrush.

*facepalm*

Cheap Frugal me didn’t want to go out and buy a different toothbrush so…

I painted stripes on mine with nail polish!

I hope this works!

Seriously now folks, am I the only one who can’t remember which toothbrush to use?

  1. I find this hysterical! I hope your nail polish solution works out. Me, I would probably just always use a pink toothbrush since I’m fairly certain my hubby wouldn’t ever have that. While I can’t say I’ve ever had this particular issue, I will say that at least you’re just dealing with your hubby here… and, really, if I’m going to swap toothbrushes with anyone, my husband would certainly be my top pick! 😉

    1. Yes, I am much happier to use my husband’s toothbrush than my brother-in-law’s! (No offense bro!) I wish my dentist had pink toothbrushes because that is a great idea!

  2. Growing up we used to write our names on our toothbrushes with a sharpie pen, saved a lot of fighting between my brother and I.

  3. I have had the same trouble in the past. We had the same situation– I used to have the green toothbrush and when we switched, my hubby got green and I got purple. I can’t even count how many times I used his toothbrush and didn’t realize it was his until it was already in my mouth. 🙂 I tried using permanent marker on the handle to write my name on mine, but it washed off after only a few uses. The nail polish is a great idea!

    1. YEAH!!! I’m not alone!!! 🙂

Honestly, the only reason I didn’t try permanent marker is because that was downstairs and the nail polish was already in the bathroom. I hope my laziness pays off.

  4. Haha! That’s funny! The stripes should do the trick. 🙂

My husband and I share an electronic toothbrush but use different heads. Mine has a yellow band and his has a pink. (Not sure why we gave him pink, but anyway. 🙂 So far it’s worked out for us!

  5. I thought I was the only one!!
At our church, we play a game (usually at the Valentine banquet or something like that) that asks husbands and wives questions about each other. One question is always the color of the wife’s toothbrush. I’m always glad when they ask my husband because I never know what color mine is! Now I have 5 boys who all have different colors or character toothbrushes. They all know that they are on their own to remember their color because Mommy doesn’t know!!

  6. Seriously Rebekah, really??? Why doesn’t Nate just get a blue on every.single.time?? I always get pink or purple if I can.

oh and ick! ick ick ick… using your BIL’s toothbrush!
