Pregnancy Update: 9 Months

Can you even believe that I started out like this at 4.5 weeks pregnant!?!?  Now I am 36 weeks pregnant and officially in my 9th month!  Ready or not, this baby is COMING!

I had a doctor appointment yesterday and everything looks great.  My midwife requested that I keep “baking this baby” for 6 more days, but then after that I’m good to go whenever.  I have no desire for this baby to come early.  I plan to keep “baking” for a few more weeks.   🙂

Overall, I feel really good.  I’m uncomfortable, but it is bearable.  My biggest complaint is that my sciatic nerve gets pinched from time to time.  I can barely move when that happens.  Thankfully, it only happens around bedtime.

Note: Hubby, just because I said that I’m feeling good that doesn’t mean that I don’t want a back rub every night!  Carrying a baby is hard work even when things are going well.  Can I get an “Amen,” moms?

As I’m writing this, my baby is going nuts.  My stomach is visibly moving all over the place.  Last night the baby got the hic-ups and was in a position that made it feel like a little baby finger was poking my bladder with each hic-up.  Growing a human is a crazy experience.

Please say a prayer that Nate and I can figure out what to name this poor child.  My grandfather was several months old before he was named.  It looks like this kid might be in the for fate.  While you’re chatting with God, I would also appreciate prayers for a safe, fast, and pain manageable delivery.

I’ll give a complete update on how I’m doing with my baby prep to-do list in the Insane Goals Monthly Link-Up on Monday, April 2nd.

Do you think we’re having a boy or girl?

  1. Yay! I’m so excited for you guys! Can’t believe I’m going to be there in just a few short months – the time does fly by! We’re struggling with a name this time around too! I think we’re going to wait until she is born and hopefully once we see her, we’ll know what to name her – at least that’s what I keep telling myself. 🙂
Many prayers for a healthy baby, and a fast and (relatively) easy labor!

  2. I’m praying for an “easy” labor and delivery. I wish I could come up to see you again before #2 makes an appearance but time is winding down for that quickly.
If I had to make a guess I’d use the Chinese gender chart and say a boy. But it predicted a girl for me and we know how that went. : )

    1. I had so much fun with you, Dorothy! Thanks for coming to see me.

As for the Chinese gender chart….. it lost all credibility with me as soon as you found out your baby’s gender. 🙂

  3. I’m going to say boy. Every single Mom I know who has a 2 year old-ish girl is having a boy the 2nd time around. 10 women total! Good luck on the name. It’s a challenge. We struggled for a long time. In the end after reading 5 books and going through all our family trees, we just kept revisiting our favorites. Still not 100% but we like to see the baby first and then make our final decision. I hope the baby “cooks” for just the right amount and your delivery goes well!

    1. 10 women?!!?? Holy smokes, Susan! That is just crazy. Most of my family seems to think this will be a boy, so maybe I’ll make it number 11 for you!

    1. I can’t believe it either, Stacy! Today I cleaned out the last of the belly butter you made for me. Thank you so much for that wonderful blessing!!

  4. Glad things are going well. I think you’re having a boy. And I hope you get your back rubbed for four more weeks. Congrats! How about Beck Nathan if it’s a boy?
