While I was at Kmart the other day, I decided to look around for things I could put into an Easter basket for Grace. She is only six months old, but I still thought it would be fun to get her something. As I was looking around the large section devoted to Easter things I noticed two things: 1) There is barely anything appropriate for a 6 month old Easter basket 2) There is no Jesus. I looked all over and I couldn’t find a single religious item! I was especially interested in getting a book for Grace’s basket, but all of the books were about bunnies! ALL OF THEM! It is so sad that I have to go HUNTING for religious Easter … [Read more...]
Happy Half Birthday, Grace!
Dear Grace Renee, Today you are six months old! I can’t believe you are already half a YEAR old! You are getting so big so fast. You are truly growing up right before my eyes. Here are some of the highlights of the first six months of your precious life: You’re fast, smooth and SAFE delivery. I also want to point out that I did it without any pain medication! Those cute, wrinkly feet that we all thought were really long. First you had soft fine hair all over your head. Then you went bald, but just on TOP! Now it seems that the top of your head is where you grow hair the best and it looks like you have a mohawk. At just two days … [Read more...]

Global Citizen
I originally posted this on Facebook in April 2008. The trip I took to India in December 2007 was my 14th country I have visited. One thing that I always struggle with whenever I go overseas is what am I going to do with the new perspective I have gained and with everything I have learned? This post is just a little bit about all that. So what is different about me because of my travels? The Food I Eat: Because of my trip to Guatemala & Mexico in 2003, I eat a ton of Spanish/Mexican food. I always loved that kind of food, but something happened to my tongue in Gaut. I came back from that trip with a real passion for black beans! How I … [Read more...]
Trusting Mr. Tree Trimmer
Every job has its ups and downs. Recently I've been experiencing some of the downs of being a stay-at-home-mom. Grace has a bad cold. We ended up taking her to the doctor on Monday. She has an ear infection and a bad cough. A couple of times she has coughed so hard that she ends up spitting up! This morning as I was holding my crying baby girl and she proceeded to throw up in my lap, I thought, "This sucks." Thankfully, Grace seems to be feeling better already. She was playing, smiling and now she is taking a good long nap. A nap that ended up being poorly timed.... Just as I was coming down the stairs from laying Grace down, I … [Read more...]
Vinegar vs. Bathroom Grime
I’m not sure what the problem is with our water. It leaves behind a residue and makes it nearly impossible to keep our bathroom looking clean. Is the problem hard water? Well, whatever it is, I don’t like it. However, I found the magic solution to my problem: Vinegar to the rescue! Simply soak a paper towel in regular vinegar. Place the wet paper towel on the problem spot and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. Then wipe the surface clean. We have a problem with grime building up on our cold water faucet at the sink. When we turn off the water after washing our hands, water drips down and the grime slowly builds up. Check out these … [Read more...]
