Several people have asked Nate & me what we are giving Grace for Christmas this year. It is her first Christmas, which is pretty special, but honestly she won’t remember a THING! Plus, she doesn’t really need anything right now. She isn’t even playing with rattles all that much, let alone full-blown toys. However, it is Christmas. So this is what we are giving Grace this year…
First of all we are giving Grace an ornament for the tree. Our tree is so small, that I honestly don’t even know if it will fit! There are a lot of people who give ornaments as gifts every year, but we aren’t planning on doing that. I just thought it would be special to get her an ornament for her first christmas.
I also bought Grace two CDs. One is from my favorite store, Ten Thousand Villages. It is a children’s CD with songs from all around the world. About half the songs are in English. The other CD is the sound track for the musical “In the Beginning”. That is the show that I was doing at Sight & Sound during the last several months of my pregnancy. I thought it would be fun for Grace to have a copy of the music that she listened to everyday while in mommy’s belly. 🙂
I was feeling a little guilty that Grace wasn’t getting any toys from us for Christmas (even though she can’t play with them yet!!!). So I stopped in at a local thrift store and found this great star stacker toy made my Fisher Price! It makes noise and lights up when you put the stars on. The best part is that it only cost $1.50 and I actually didn’t pay full price for it! I was paying with change out of my purse and I realized that I didn’t have enough when I got to the register. I was going to ask the lady if she would hold it for me until I could come back to pay for it, but she took money out of the “need a penny, take a penny” pile!
We’ll be spending Christmas in Ohio with my family. I can’t wait. It will be so much fun to introduce Grace to my extended family and to experience all the Christmas excitement with her. Last year it felt like something was missing. Like our family wasn’t quite complete. I’m pretty sure this year will be different. 🙂
