I had an ah-ha moment today.
My mother-in-law has offered to watch Grace for a couple of hours every Monday so I can use that alone time to get things done before the baby comes. It has been super helpful. In the past I used those hours to work on transforming the guest bedroom into Grace’s new room. That project is finished so what should I do next?
There are tons of things I could do that are difficult to get done while Grace is here. I could have brought baby clothes down from the attic, reorganized the office, or cleaned anything. Instead I decided to sit on the couch and work on putting together a photo book with Snapfish.
Each month during my Insane Goals updates you’ve heard me complain about the lack of progress I’ve made working on organizing my photos and putting them into books. Then the ah-ha moment hit me.
The baby clothes and nursery will get organized. They have to! These photo books??? If they don’t get done, life will still continue as normal. However, they are important to me. I enjoy creating them and having them finished. It is time to make them the true priority that they are.
How often do we spend our rare alone time doing something that we know we would get done anyway? Maybe it is cleaning, laundry, watching TV, or using social media.
There is nothing wrong with doing those things, but what about making time for the things in life that you always wish you had time for? Writing a book, scrap booking, completing a sewing project, painting a picture, calling a long distant friend…
Today I spent my alone time working on a project that I’ve wanted to get done for over a year, but never made the time for it. It felt good.
What is something you’ve been wanting to do, but have a hard time making a true priority?
