This post contains affiliate links. A year ago I read the book Green Your Life by Emily McClements. In the book she suggested keeping a small recycling bin in the bathroom to make it easier to recycle empty bottles, toilet paper rolls, etc. I tried it and now I'm ready to report back on how it has been to keep a recycling bin in my bathroom. One Year of Bathroom Recyclables?! Instead of a bin, I've been using a large bag to collect the recyclables in our upstairs bathroom. I haven't emptied it since I put it under the sink a year ago. Is this what one year of bathroom recyclables really looks like? Honestly, I highly doubt that … [Read more...]
Hand-me-downs for Christmas Gifts?
Recently my sister-in-law came over to my house with some kid books, DVDs, and toys she wanted to sell online and at garage sales. Â I was thankful that she gave me first dibs on her stuff! After I picked out several items, I gave my sister-in-law 2 options: I could pay her for the items and keep them that day. She could keep the toys and give those them to my kids for Christmas this year. She picked the Christmas option and rightly so! Â Her shopping is done, it didn't cost her anything, and she knows it is stuff my kids will like because I hand picked the items. Do you have friends or family that could give the gift of … [Read more...]
Green People Are SO Annoying!
Green, crunchy, natural...  Whatever you call them, they are sooooooo annoying sometimes! You know what I mean, right? They can be so obnoxious with their... - whole foods diets and kids that have never touched white flour or white sugar. - thrift store outfit that cost about $0.50 and looks way cooler than anything in my closet. - amber teething necklace wearing & elimination communication trained infants.  Yep.  I just called out the babies. - homemade ketchup, soaked grains, and water kefir.  What the heck is water kefir anyway!?!? - homemade laundry detergent.  I'm sorry, but I simply do NOT believe you when you … [Read more...]

Tips for a Successful Clothing Swap
(While I'm enjoying my newborn, I'm thrilled to share this guest post by Rachel from Intentionally Simple.) We all have clothes in our closet that we don’t wear. They aren’t our style, we’re tired of them or maybe they just don’t fit. After a recent closet purge, I had a box full of clothes that were too big, too small and maternity items that I never wore during my last pregnancy. Instead of donating all of those clothes, I thought it would be fun to gather with friends for a clothing swap! We’re not all the same size but we all had a wide size range of clothing in our wardrobes since most of us have had a baby or two within the past … [Read more...]
