September 9, 2013 by Rebekah Hoffer 8 Comments

The following DIY tutorial and giveaway was written by DB Landes from The Creative Recycler. Enjoy! If you were to come into my house and move any piece of furniture let me tell you what you would find: crunched up snacks, dust, my daughter's hair ties, a block, a matchbox car, and broken crayons. A year ago I would have just thrown those broken crayons out. Not anymore. I melt them down and make new crayons... Race Car Crayons! How to make your own Upcycled Crayons: Broken Crayons A Straight Pin or Tack Cleaned Empty Can Old Utensil or Spatula Old Sauce Pot Ice Cube Tray or Jello Mold Oven Mitt (for holding the hot can) 1. … [Read more...]

How to Enjoy Candles Longer

May 10, 2012 by Rebekah Hoffer 3 Comments

I love burning scented candles in my house.  I don't love it when the candle burns unevenly and leaves behind a wall of wax in my jar candles.  I used to throw these candles away as soon as I reached the end of the wick.  I used to. You can find candle warmers in many stores.  They even sell wick-less candles.  However, I was pleased to get the same results … [Read more...]

An Alternative to Wrapping Paper (Part 2)

December 17, 2010 by Rebekah Hoffer 10 Comments

Wednesday I shared how I have enough wrapping paper to last until the end of time.  If you missed Part 1 you can read it here. Since I would rather cancel Christmas than use that same wrapping paper again, I decided that I better find an alternative.  I've decided to go green and wrap my gifts in newsprint. I’m pleased with how my gifts look, but I am trying to mentally prepare myself for endlessly being made fun of by my family.   ;-) Need some inspiration for wrapping your gifts this year? Check out these green options: Eco-friendly & Green Gift Wrapping Ideas for this Holiday Season by SimpleMom.net 10 Eco-Friendly … [Read more...]
