My husband thought I was crazy. Â He usually does think I’m crazy when I ask him to save things. Â However, this time he just rolled his eyes and said, “Okay.”
Perhaps it was my hormonal and fragile state. Â Maybe it was Nate’s lack of sleep. Â Whatever it was, he decided not to fight me on my strange (but normal for me!) request to save my extra packet of salad dressing.
Yes, it is true. Â I saved salad dressing from my hospital stay after my c-section.
I’m glad that I did because it came in very handy recently when we were running low on dip to go with our veggies. Â It was just enough for the three of us for supper that night.
And tonight I did the same thing. Â This time it was ketchup packets that came with our take-out.
Shhhh! Â Don’t tell Nate! Â He doesn’t know I snatched them out of our trash can after he insisted on throwing them away.
Are you rolling your eyes at me or can I get an, “Amen, Sister!” from ya?  🙂
You make me smile!! I was with you until you said you snatched them out of the trash!! 🙂
Well, it was MY trash can. Does that make a difference?
Yes! I thought it was at like McDonalds or something!
This is one thing that Kirk does and I don’t. It’s because we never remember to use them. The packets end up collecting somewhere and being forgotten. Then I go to organize the kitchen and end up throwing them all out.
That is how I am lotion samples. I never seem to use them! Finally I got smart and stopped requesting them.
Love your site! I’m glad I’m not the only one saving packets. I put them in a empty miracle whip jar in the cupboard. They come in really handy when packing lunches and when you unexpectedly run out of something. I live in the country and don’t like to stop in the middle of something to make a trip to town. I also save them and give them to friends that are poor and really appreciate packets of ketchup and honey.
I’m glad you enjoyed my blog! I hope to “see” you around more.
I really should use your empty mayo jar idea. I tend to keep my packets in random places in the fridge. It isn’t very organized and they fall out. Maybe that is why my husband doesn’t like me keeping them. 🙂
I save the condiment packets also..and we use them..we don’t eat out much so they come extremely handy when I pack our lunches…and when all my “kids” come over to eat, I sit them out also so noone has to wait on anyone..I think it keeps the kids from wasting so much also..
That is a great idea for cutting down waste with kids!!
Get the cheap squirt bottles at the dollar store and cut the top to fit the consistancy of the product you put inside.
Ketchup
Mustard
Syrup
Dressings (Esp the ones with the big open top)
Mayo
You get the idea.
