A Look Back at 2009

Right before Christmas I found a facebook application that gave me access to all of my facebook status updates from 2009!  A lot has happened in a year – some good, some bad and some silly.  Here are some highlights from each month:

January

is the only one online. Maybe because it is 3:00 AM! Go to bed, Rebekah!!!!

Grandpa Baer died today…. But today was his and Grandma’s wedding anniversary. She got a great gift in Heaven today.

is glad to be with family, but sad that it is a funeral that is bring us all together.

March

just signed up for Freecyle. I have used this before and loved it. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

pulled a muscle in her hip trying to close the trunk of her car with her foot. My hands were full!! It didn’t work. Now I’m limping…

should really do some dishes. Nate always ends up doing them, but I just can’t seem to get up off the couch…

ate Five Guys today and LOVED IT! God told me to eat it. It’s true! People around me kept talking about it. It must have been a sign! 🙂

is eating chocolate cake with peanut butter icing for breakfast.

April

is trying to balance out the domestic act of her making muffins from scratch by listening to Britney Spears’s greatest hits at the same time

has a bun in her oven. We plan on letting it bake until the end of September. 🙂

We had an ultra sound tonight. It was wonderful to see our little one. We decided to wait to find out the sex of the baby and we feel really good about that.

May

Despite Donna’s best attempt (and it was a really good one!!!), I have officially eaten out or had restaurant left overs 7 days in a row. Today will be the day to break the cycle. I can feel it!

There is a little girl outside that has been yelling the same word over and over for the past 10 mins. I am getting annoyed.

Would you like to pay $1.84 for $16 worth of stuff at CVS? Yes, yes I would! I got 2 boxes of cereal, 4 Sobe Life waters, and $7 candle for $1.84. Coupons are my friend.

June

I just heard a mother’s voice outside my window say, “Ice-cream isn’t a meal.” 🙂 Oh how I wish it was sometimes!

Nate just called me out for sleeping a lot by saying, “What do you think of me going to be later than you and waking up earlier than you?” My response: “What do you think of me growing a human?”

July

is on the ferry headed to Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks, NC. Tasks completed this morning: showered outside, got attacked by mosquitoes, called my doctor.

is not happy about what the scale said at today’s dr. appointment. Not happy…

This baby is moving ALL THE TIME!! If this reflects how our baby is going to be after birth then this is going to be a hyper active child that NEVER SLEEPS!

Today is my baby shower! I feel a little like it is Christmas morning! 🙂 I am so thankful that Nate & his dad finished painting the nursery and cleaning the carpet. We’ll be able to put the gifts in there right away & get organized!!!

The traffic report this morning started off with “There is a man chasing a cow…”

August

is feeling fat. (No need for all the “but your pregnant!” comments. I already know all those things.)

A lady at Turkey Hill tonight saw me, gasped, grabbed her stomach and said, “Oh! It looks like it HURTS!” *insert extremely annoyed facial expression here*

Nate just protected me from getting hit by a foul ball at the Lancaster Barnstormers game! (sigh) My hero!

September

I just found a quote online that totally works for me. I just wish I would have thought to have said it like this myself! “I married a man far nicer than me. He is too nice to have noticed.”

Quote of the Day: I asked Nate about one of the residents at his homeless shelter and his response was, “Haven’t seen him. He is living in the woods again.” I love how casually he said it and did he really say “again”!?!?

Today I received a piece of mail addressed to “Ralph Hoffer”. I think that beats the Christmas card I got from my neighbor in which he called me “ReDekah” twice.

Today is my due date. T-O-D-A-Y!!!! Someone please tell my baby because it doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo. No labor signs yet!

had a baby today!! Grace Renee is 6 lbs 7 oz & beautiful!

October

Grace is amazing. She is only 5 days old and already weighs 1 oz more than her birth weight. Plus she can roll onto her side AND last night she slept 5 hours! God has blessed us greatly.

Hello, Belly Button. Welcome back.

Grace won’t be the baby in the family for long! Nate’s sister is having a baby today. Welcome to the world, Matthew!

I finally realized yesterday why it seems like I never have to go the bathroom these days: Because my bladder isn’t being smooshed by a baby!!! I am back to a NORMAL bathroom schedule. I had forgotten what that was like!

I have to get this off my chest. I think I actually like the Wendy Williams Show. I know, I know! I hang my head in shame…

November

My husband is such a wise guy. This morning to remind him to take his leftovers to work for lunch I said, “Don’t forget your chinese.” He responded with, “I’m American!”

My trip to the dentist did not go as planned. Grace started screaming after 2 mins in the waiting room. The receptionist, Kristen, ended up being Grace’s very first babysitter! *sigh*

I made supper tonight for the first time in nearly 8 weeks! It was really really easy though. I used left over steak to make a stir fry with a bag of frozen mixed veggies, left over rice and soy sauce packets from getting chinese food.

I am officially a Stay-At-Home Mom. I turned in my resignation today at Sight & Sound. It was sad to say goodbye, but I am so grateful to be staying at home with Grace!

My Black Friday shopping: Chicken Breast for $1.28 a pound and Turkey Hill Ice-cream for $1.67! 🙂

December

I just had a pregnancy flashback! I was hit by a wave of nausea and started gagging, just like in my first trimester. However, this was induced by me cleaning out the fridge!

When am I going to learn that when someone on the phone asks for Miss Miller that it is ALWAYS a telemarketer and to say that she doesn’t live here anymore!

Nate’s graduation ceremony is today! He is getting his Masters in Business Administration. I am so proud of him and all his hard work!

I am so in love with my daughter. Tonight it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you God for blessing me with such a beautiful family. My husband is a better man than I could dream of and Grace is truly an angel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Lord.

Quote from my husband this evening, “I love my girls. I want more. I want 5 daughters… and 2 of them will be twins… Barbie and Bianca.”
