A Day in the Life of… 2012 {link-up}
Welcome to the 2nd Annual “A Day in the Life of…” photography project! The concept is simple, but the results are awesome. Take one picture every hour, for one day, and an unique hour by hour snapshot of your day is created. I hope you enjoy my pictures and I look forward to seeing yours!
A Day in the Life of Rebekah – January 18, 2012
8:00 AM – Grace just woke up and we are cuddling in bed. This is very normal. The fact that I’m already showered and dressed is not normal, but we have “moms’ group” at church this morning. I love Grace covering her eyes!
9:00 AM – We are on our way to “moms’ group.” We just happened to pass a horse and buggy right at 9:00.
10:00 AM – COFFEE!!! The decaf coffee definitely makes it on my short list of things I love about my moms’ group.
11:00 AM – I just picked up my little pumpkin from the childcare.
12:00 PM – It is lunch time and Grace is enjoying a peanut butter sandwich. I usually wait to eat until she goes down for her nap. I love those quiet moments, eating lunch alone. 😉
1:00 PM – Time to go to sleep, little one. Time really does go by so fast. This picture is already outdated. Just this weekend we took away Grace’s pacifier. She has handled it much better than I expected. She misses it, but is sleeping very well.
2:00 PM – Answering some emails. Do you have something you want to talk about? You can contact me anytime.
3:00 PM – Grace just woke up from her nap and I was rocking her in her room. Grace loves to rock with me after her naps. I have no idea how often that will be able to happen after baby #2 is born in April, so for now I am trying to soak in each and every moment. This picture is actually of a lamp I made out of a wicker structure, Christmas lights, and a dimmer switch.
4:00 PM – I’m cleaning up the kitchen. Yes, those are lunch dishes. That is just how I roll.
5:00 PM – I was kicking myself when my timer went off to tell me it was time to take my next picture. At that very moment I was looking under the couch for a missing library book. I didn’t stage my photos throughout the day and this is proof! How boring!!! For the record, looking under your couch is very difficult when you are too pregnant to lay flat on your stomach. I did find the book, but only after Nate came home later and moved the couch for me.
6:00 PM – I was putting some finishing touches on supper. We tried something new that was awesome. I might need to add it to my collection of simple recipes.
7:00 PM – I have been devouring oranges lately. This pregnant lady could probably eat five in one sitting.
8:00 PM – Nate was giving Grace a bath and had a few quiet moments to myself. I turned on the TV and enjoyed feeling the baby moving. In this picture I was 26 weeks pregnant.
9:00 PM – Getting my social media fix.
10:00 PM – I do most of my blogging at night. This evening I was working on my post 20 Green Things I Don’t Do (Part 1).
11:00 PM – I am embarrassed and appalled that my day ended with paying bills. I almost never pay bills before going to bed. Ironically, in 2011 this was my 10:00 PM photo. I hate paying bills (even though I used this amazingly simple method) and I hope this type of photo doesn’t show up in 2013!

I love how you’re cleaning up at 4pm from lunch. I still have lunch dishes in the sink until after dinner or until the next day… that’s how I roll.
Haha! I guess I feel like the kitchen mess should be cleaned up since we have a dishwasher to do all the hard work. When we lived in the apartment, dishes definitely sat around past 4:00!!
First, that nightlight/wicker contraption is AWESOME! Go, you! What a sweet light to rock your little girl in 🙂
Second, I still have BREAKFAST messes waiting to be cleaned up at dinnertime. You roll more efficiently than I do 😉
Thanks so much for this great idea! I had so much fun playing along.
Thank you, Sarah. I’ve had that lamp on my list of things to blog about for a long time. I love using it for checking in on Grace at night while she is sleeping. The dimmer makes it just bright enough to see her, but not too bright to disturb her.
Thanks for sharing your day!
aauughh! I took pictures, but still haven’t edited them or worked on the blog post!! So glad I have 2 weeks!! 🙂
Love your day!
Julie, I was kicking myself last night for waiting until the last minute to work on my own post! Don’t worry about linking up “late.” One of my blogging buddies told me she is taking her photos today. You won’t be the last one. 🙂
We have that same bedding set in our crib. So excited we can use it for baby number 2 because he is a boy.
My dishes from lunch sit around too. Now I’m going to say “that’s how I roll” when I see them 🙂
Thanks for the peak into your day!
Susan, it is kind of a funny story about that bedding. We didn’t know the gender of our first baby, so as we registered for everything we strongly questioned if it would fit a boy or a girl. I thought the bedding looked too girly. My husband thought it looked too boyish. We figured that meant it was perfect!
By the way, do you have issues with the sheets fitting really tight? I can’t stand changing those sheets!!!
We knew it was a girl but didn’t want a pink room. I’m glad we did what we did and it will be great for the baby boy. The sheets do fit incredibly tight. I hate changing the sheets too. We have 2 other sheets that are the same color sceme and those are usually the ones I change more often. I do 3 layers of sheets with a waterproof pad in between that way if she gets sick/pees I can just strip off the top layer to wash and lay her back down. I don’t spend time struggling with the sheets in the middle of the night.
That is a great idea about the different layers of sheets. Thankfully, we haven’t needed to do many middle of the night changes in this house so far!
So much fun! Thanks for hosting, I really enjoyed writing my own post and know I’ll look back at it in the future as a reminder of life with a 21-month-old & 6-week-old! And I’m enjoying reading about the days of others too!!
Looking at everyone else’s day is my favorite part of the whole thing. 🙂
Love your pictures. So cool that you passed a horse and buggy right at 9am!
Hope you don’t have to look for any more library books under the couch! Well, at least until after baby arrives 🙂
This is a very nice idea. I will try this for sure. I enjoyed viewing your photos. Your daughter is so cute.
LOVE it! Mommy groups are awesome – life savers. Your lamp is so cool! This was a lot of fun – actually got a post linked up before the day ended!
Love your lamp. 🙂 And I just love reading posts like this! It’s so interesting to see what other moms lives are like.
