4 Fun Vacation Pranks

Last week I was sitting with my toes in the sand and a book on my lap. It was one of the most glorious vacations of my life. Nate and I rented a beach house along with 3 other couples and we all left our children behind. It was glorious.
I repeat: it was glorious.
Nate and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have a little harmless fun with some vacation pranks. All it took was a little planning and $5. It was totally worth it.
4 Fun Vacation Pranks
1. Nutella on the Toilet Seat – This vacation prank was 100% Nate. He told me weeks before we left for the beach that he needed to pack Nutella. Multiple times a day he smeared a little along the toilet seat in a bathroom that was being shared by two couples. We even experimented with little Nutella finger prints.
It was hilarious, but apparently not too effective. The couples sharing the bathroom were pretty suspicious from the beginning, but it was still worth it. We all had a good laugh.
2. Fake Spiders & Rats – I bought a package of fake spiders and rats from the dollar store and hid them throughout the house. They ended up in dresser drawers, bathroom drawers, and in beds.
Our friends started pranking us back and used fishing line to tie a fake spider to our door knob. It was rigged so that when we opened the door, the spider would “crawl” along the floor into our room. Then someone put the spider on a string on top of our ceiling fan so that when we turned it on, the spider would fly down and dangle over our bed.

3. Googly Eyes in the Fridge – This was my favorite of all our vacation pranks. I bought a pack of googly eyes at the dollar store and taped them onto food in the refrigerator after everyone had gone to bed. It was a prank that truly made everyone smile. I need to repeat this for my kids some day. They’ll love it!
4. Switch Door Knobs – While Nate and I were at the beach, one of our “friends” used a screw driver to take our bedroom door knob apart and turn it around so that the lock was on the outside of the door. The plan didn’t quite work how they hoped. Nate locked himself into the room while I was standing right outside the door in the hallway.
From inside our bedroom I heard, “Hey. Unlock the door.”
“What? You locked it.”
“No, I didn’t. I can’t open it.”
We were both pretty confused until it registered that the door knob was actually switched. Our friends were hoping to lock the two of us inside, but it was still a good vacation prank.
