Before & After Photos: Desk and Closet Makeover (with Sauder furniture)

Fun Before and After Photos of a Desk and Closet Makeover using Sauder furniture

“NATE!!! Guess what! I just got an email from Sauder and they want to send us some furniture!!”

Yes, that was me freaking out a couple of months ago when Sauder Woodworking Co. contacted me about partnering with them on a sponsored post. Why the big freak out moment?

1) Sauder Woodworking Co. makes amazing furniture.

2) I used to work there!!!

It truly is a small world, folks. The person who contacted me had no idea that I had previously lived in Ohio and worked at Sauder Woodworking Co. for 3 summers when I was in college. She had no idea that my sister and aunt had also worked there. She didn’t know that I grew up with Sauder furniture in my home or that I still have my Sauder dresser in my current bedroom.

So when a company that you used to work for, that makes 90% of it’s products in the USA, and that makes furniture that can stand the test of time (which you have seen first hand!) asks if they can send you a couple of pieces, you say yes!

I picked 2 Cottage Road Spindle Back Chairs because I had the perfect place for them. I really struggle with decorating my house, so I loved the pop of color that these chairs brought to my house with very little effort on my part.

For the first chair, I livened up this desk I recently added to our dining room.

Doesn’t that look better? Along with the chair, I also added a wedding picture and a sculpture I brought home from South Africa.

One thing that I really appreciate about Sauder Woodworking Co. is that they are an environmentally conscious company. Many of their products are made out of engineered wood, which means that they take high-quality trimmings and leftovers from mills and turn them into beautiful furniture.

Plus, Sauder is intentional about it’s own residual sawdust. Some of it is used for animal bedding, and nearly 40% of Sauder’s power comes from converting their manufacturing waste into energy.

I used the second chair to dress up my walkin closet. The before picture is pretty bad. Clearly, I needed to spend some time sorting through the boxes and piles of clothes.

Sauder furniture After

Ahhh! Much better! I added the chair, some fabric over the window, and a bamboo placemat to hold my earrings.

I am especially proud of the placemat for my earrings. Previously, my earrings were stuffed into a jewelry box drawer and I was constantly forgetting about some of my favorites. Now they are on display and I can easily find them.

Confession Time: My plan for the chair in my closet is not to actually sit on it, but to pile clothes on it. Are you a pile maker? I certainly am! I like to wear my clothes more than once before washing them whenever possible. Instead of hanging those clothes back up, I prefer to have a “holding” space for them. I can easily pull out a shirt to wear a second time or I can grab them easily and throw them into the laundry the next time I do a load. Am I the only one whose mind works this way???

I love how easily I was able to transform these two spaces in my house with Sauder’s contemporary furniture.

Several bloggers came together and shared pictures of their own Sauder furniture makeovers. Take a peek at all the different styles of furniture Sauder offers and unique ways other bloggers are using them in this lookbook.

What do you think of my Sauder furniture makeovers? How would you use the chairs in your home?
