Insane Goals: October Update {link-up}

Another month has past.  Here is how I did with my list of goals last month.

October Accomplishments:

1.  Our hosting goal was met this month when we church friends over for an appetizer party.  Really it was just an excuse to get everyone together so we could share our pregnancy news.

2.  I mailed a couple of cards this month.

3.  I went away for 3 nights to attend the Relevant blogging conference.  It was the first time I was away from Grace.  It certainly counted as some significant “me time” for this month.

4.  My cleaning check list got utilized more this month.  I 100% contribute that to us hosting a party here and my parents coming for the weekend.  Having company over seems to be my number one motivator for getting the house clean.

5.  Grace and I started reading her Bible after her naps.  She loves to sit in her crib and flip through the pages.  I’ve left her up there for over 30 minutes!

6.  I did’t get to cross anything new off my list, but I still feel really good about my progress.  The first trimester of this pregnancy really exhausted me.  I could hardly go a day with out napping.  I’m finally starting to find the motivation to get things done again.  There are those seasons in your life when you have to let things slide and the last three months were definitely that season for me.  I’m 100% ok with that!

October Disappointments:

1. Now that baby number two is on the way, I’m feeling even more pressure to catch up on our photo books.  However, that pressure has yet to translate into actual progress.

2.  I’m in a weird place with my spiritual goals right now.  I’m working through some things and the Relevant conference certainly helped with that.  I’m at a point right now where I need to really press in and pray diligently about these things.  I’m not where I want to be, but I hope that changes over the next month or so.

3. Nate is starting to get frustrated with our lack of home decor.  He would really like to see some pictures on the wall.  Honestly, I don’t care.  Clearly I don’t care or it would have happened by now!  It has been 1 year & 4 months since we moved into this house.

You can see all my progress from this year below.  Plus be sure to add your link below and check out the other blogger’s goals!

    1. Andrea, you bring up a good point. I got rid of so much clutter when we moved into this house. I think I’ve fallen in love with the minimalist look.

  1. For me, if I just start with one picture or so and figure out where I want it to hang it helps to motivate me to get started decorating. Maybe go through your pictures/artwork and pick one out and figure out where you want to hang it and then just go from there. You don’t have to get it all done at once, just one little baby step at a time 😉

    1. Pam, you are totally going to laugh at me. I’ve had a picture sitting in my hallway upstairs for at least a year. Just sitting there waiting to be put on the wall it is leaning against. 🙂

  2. We moved into an apartment and there were three big frames on the wall above our couch in the living room that came with the place. It took over a year to put any pictures in there because either my husband or I couldn’t agree, or what we liked cost too much. (We were looking at art prints, not family photos.) Finally, out of desperation, we agreed to some poster type photo things from Home Depot on clearance that only cost a couple of dollars. Ridiculous. 🙂 Rest assured that you are in good company with us fellow “undecorators.”

  3. I so missed meeting you! So glad you got to go and have some “me” time! As for decorating – it’s amazing what nice stuff you can find at Dollar General. We staged our whole house for around $100 before we sold it using decor we found there!

  4. I recently got photobooks done for my kids.. It took me a while but I managed to clear 7yrs of backlog picture.. decided one day not to wait any longer as my #1 is already 7 this year..and I nearly lost all my photos when the HD recently crashed.

  5. It was so good to meet you in person at Relevant!! Thank you for planning the green-bloggers lunch! I’m such an introvert I never would have met all you lovely ladies w/o that meal!

We just moved a month ago, previously we had been in our other house 8 years… I had a simple decorating plan: some walls didn’t have anything, end tables had a solid color table cloth, or single item and people would often say they liked my decorating “style” -which would make me laugh b/c I felt like I didn’t HAVE a “style”. But I think it was that it wasn’t OVER decorated/cluttered. I think best in clean, uncluttered spaces, it’s like a break for my brain to rest my eyes on a corner of the room with a table with one simple (yes, I’ll admit, Dollar Store) vase.

Good luck with your goals! I’ll see you around the web!

  6. I LOVE this linky idea! I found it on Melissa’s blog at Filling Our Bucket and I’m so excited to join in! Thanks for hosting. :o) And congrats on the pregnancy!!! I’m a new follower!

Feel free to stop by my blog any time!

    1. Thanks for linking up! I’m glad to see that I’m not the only sad soul behind on my scrap-booking/photo albums! Hopefully, we’ll get something significant done this month.
