For the third year in a row, our family was gifted a week at the beach. Nate works for a non-profit and one of his donor’s has generously given us the use of his beach house. When I grow up and get rich, I want to do crazy-awesome stuff like that!
Here are some highlights of our time there this summer.
Our first night there we always head to the beach after supper instead of waiting to go the next morning. I love seeing the excitement on Grace’s face each year when she sees the ocean for the first time.
Last year I was just a couple weeks pregnant when we went to the beach. Now we are a family of four!
I love these handsome men!
Having a baby at the beach wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. We walked to the beach each morning with Noah in my Moby Wrap. He usually fell asleep on the walk or soon after.
Check out this little beach diva!
A very important part about going to the beach for us is the ice cream and french fries on the boardwalk.
Noah was super excited to go out to eat. Haha! How can you look at that picture and not smile or giggle? I love it!
We did all these fun things at the beach with Grace and when we got home this is what she told our neighbor about her vacation:
“I took a shower. I cried.” – Grace
“Umm… What did you do that was fun at the beach?” I encouraged.
“Nothing.” – Grace
Oh brother!
What was the highlight of your summer this year?

Oh how funny! My son did almost the same thing to me this year! He is 8 years old and HFA (high-functioning autistic). This summer I was determined to actually GO somewhere with him and his 12 year old sister for vacation so we took a week long camping trip (yep, tent and all!). We camped our way back to Orlando from Sarasota (best beaches in the world!). We went shelling, snorkeling, boogie boarding. We saw aquariums, museums and science centers. We went to movies and game rooms. We even had a close encounter with a skunk who thought our tent looked cozy! So, we get back from this HUGE adventure and go to his neurologist appointment. She asks him “So, what did you do this summer?” He answers “HOMEWORK”. Oh good grief! REALLY!?!?!?!?!?!? Gotta love it! BTW super cutie pics of your kiddos 🙂
HAHAHA! What is wrong with our kids??? 🙂
We weren’t able to go anywhere this summer because of bedrest and doctors appointments. I did seriously pack their summer with fun library activities that family members could take them to. But I feel like they were let down a bit. But hey, they got a baby brother!
Aw, don’t feel bad. 1) Family vacations are not a must for a good time. 2) You gave them the best gift ever this summer!
Looks like y’all had fun! We love going to the beach but it’s been a couple years, hoping to go next year and maybe while I am pregnant, if that happens Lord Willing! 🙂
Are you going to Allume this year? I get to go so I’d love to see ya!
Rachel, I’m not going to Allume. 🙁
I really want to, but I don’t want to take Noah and I don’t want to leave him either. Send out good tweets for me because I’ll be stalking all the fun online!!
