You can wash disposable swim diapers???

You can wash disposable swim diapers and use them again??? It is true! Find out how.

Cloth swim diapers are a fantastic green and frugal option, but what if cloth swim diapers make you feel a bit squeamish? Or what if you already have a pack of disposable swim diapers? I have a fantastic frugal secret to tell you…

You can wash disposable swim diapers and use them again!

I first shared this tip in 2010, which was my first year of blogging. Over the years, that post has become super popular and super controversial. The backlash was so bad that I wrote an entire post about it titled The Day The Natural Living Community Turned On Me.

Washing disposable swim diapers isn’t a good frugal choice for everyone. (Trust me! Many people have told me how much they hate this idea.) However, I thought this tip was good enough to share again.

And this time I’m sharing the tip in the form of a video!

  1. I’m not sure I’ll do it personally (I do a mix of cloth and disposable for both swim and regular diapers), but good for you to take this on again after the controversy last time. Way to be yourself and say what you want to say!!!

  2. I have washed my kids’ disposable swim diapers before, and even dried them once or twice when I forgot to pull them out, and never had any problems. This was quite a while ago, as my kids are now ready to go into 4th & 8th grade, but I had heard at the time that it was possible so I was all for trying it out. After all, I was a SAHM at the time, with very tight finances, and I needed to do anything I could to avoid having to buy more of them. Of course I didn’t wash the ones with #2, but it was a great savings. Frankly, I think those nay-sayers are just refusing to think outside the proverbial box. There’s nothing wrong with trying something new & unexpected!! It just may work and save you some money.
