A Day In The Life Of...

Welcome to the 3rd Annual “A Day in the Life of…” photography project!  The concept is simple, but the results are awesome.  Take one picture every hour, for one day, and an unique hour by hour snapshot of your day is created.  I hope you enjoy my pictures and I look forward to seeing yours!

A Day in the Life of Rebekah – January 18, 2013

I started Jan. 18th awake at 12:00 AM.  My husband had a big fundraising event for work Thursday night and we stayed up late talking about the event.  I never would have done that if I had known how the rest of my night was going to turn out…

1:11, 2:49, 5:45, & 7:30 AM

1:11 AM, 2:49 AM, 5:45 AM, and 7:30 AM – Yep.  I was up with Noah a lot.  Way too much.  I brought Noah into bed with us at 5:45.  Grace woke up at 6:30, crawled into bed with us, and woke Noah up again.  I was thrilled.

Eventually we were all awake and ready to get out of bed at 7:30.  I got Grace dressed, which took an extra long time.  She insisted on 3 skirts, 3 headbands, and pantyhose.  It took forever for me to find the pantyhose.

8:30 AM - Breakfast 8:30 AM – I made eggs for breakfast.  One of my goals this year is to stop eating/serving cereal every. single. day.  I made an egg yolk for Noah, but he didn’t eat much of it.  I made coffee and changed diapers.

I also watched Noah crawl up one step on the stairs and then rip the child safety lock off the kitchen cabinets.  I think I’m going to be in trouble with this kid.

9:30 AM - Snow!

9:30 AM – We looked outside just in time to see snow!  It only lasted for about 10 minutes.  I chatted on the phone with my blogging BFF, Donna.

Then I took a shower, which ended abruptly when I heard Grace yelling.  Noah was bawling.  Toys were everywhere.  Grace went into time out.  This was not turning out to be a very good day.

I nursed Noah and put him down for a nap.  Then I put a video on for Grace.  I needed a TV break.

10:30 AM - Dressed

10:30 AM – Finally I got dressed.  Yep.  All that stuff that happened after my shower… the time out, nursing Noah, putting a video on for Grace…  I was in my towel.  Again I repeat: this wasn’t my best day.

I took my time getting dressed since Grace was quietly entertained with her video.  I needed the break.  I paid some bills and called my friend Kristen.

11:30 AM - Dishwaher

11:30 AM – I started to empty the dishwasher while still chatting with Kristen.  I vented to her about my night with Noah and asked her advice about him not sleeping through the night.  We talked for a loooong time.  I needed it.  I made Grace lunch and we did a puzzle together.

12:30 PM - Couch Cuddles

12:30 PM – Noah woke up and we all enjoyed some cuddles on the couch.  Noah and I played peek-a-boo.  He loves that game right now.  Grace watched some PBS videos on my phone while I fed Noah lunch, finished cleaning up the kitchen, and got Noah dressed.  Then Grace asked to go to bed!!!  I know!  I was shocked too.

1:30 PM - Nap Time

1:30 PM – I tucked Grace in for her nap.  She loves to read books by herself before she goes to sleep.  I went downstairs and picked up all the toys.  Why???  I should have had Grace do it before her nap.  Or after her nap!  I just couldn’t look at the chaos anymore.  This day was pretty crazy and this was just one thing I could control.

Finally around 2:00 I fixed lunch for myself.  I started watching Grey’s Anatomy online while I nursed Noah.  Then I laid him down for a nap.  It didn’t work.  I changed his diaper, nursed him again, and then gave up on the nap when he still wasn’t acting sleepy.

2:30 PM - Chocolate & Grey's

2:30 PM – I ate this amazing chocolaty chex mix my friend makes and watched Grey’s while Noah played on the floor.

Finally Noah went down for a nap.  Ahhh!  The house was quiet.  I was alone.  It was heavenly.

Heavenly for 10 minutes.  That’s when Grace woke up and came downstairs.  I wanted to cry, but thankfully Nate came home early from work (since he had worked all day on Thursday because of the fundraiser).  I browsed Facebook while he got settled in and then…

3:30 PM - My Nap!

3:30 PM – NAP!!!  I was sooooooooooooooooo happy Nate came home early and I could go to bed!!!!!!!

4:30 PM – Still napping.  It was glorious!

5:30 PM - Nursing

5:30 PM – I just woke up and was nursing Noah.  I had planned on making a sausage, lentil, rice skillet for supper, but Nate ordered a pizza while I was napping.  This day just kept getting better and better!

6:30 PM - After Supper

6:30 PM – We just finished supper.  We cleaned up the kitchen.  That shouldn’t have taken long since we ordered a pizza, but I don’t have any other notes for this hour.  🙂

7:30 PM - Color Wonder

7:30 PM – I love these color wonder markers!!!!!  I rolled ball with the kids and read books.  I half heartily worked on a grocery list.  We got the kids ready for bed.

8:30 PM - Finger Nails

8:30 PM – I clipped Noah’s finger nails while nursing him before bed.  Nate tucked Grace in and I laid Noah down.  Then I did a little paid pinning.  That’s right.  I have a little side gig where I get paid to pin on Pinterest.  A-MA-ZING!!  (I have no clue if there is a large need for this type of job.  I was just in the right place at the right time!)

9:30 PM - Blogging

9:30 PM – I updated my list of Insane Goals for 2013.  I keep thinking of more things to add!!  The rest of the hour was filled with other blogging randomness.

10:30 PM - Email

10:30 PM – I emailed a couple companies about partnering with Simply Rebekah for some giveaways.  Plus I got lost in the beauty of Etsy.  I have $100 gift card to spend and simple can NOT decide what to get!

11:30 PM - Toothbrush

11:30 PM – Brushed my teeth and crawled into bed.  GOODNIGHT!

Oh my goodness, Rebekah, I loved reading about your day! My favorite part was learning I’m not the only one who enjoys Grey’s Anatomy. Lol! I have such a back log of it on my TiVo. It’s really my guilty pleasure. 🙂

I finally got around to visiting all the links and reading about everybody else’s day. It was inspiring (those mamas that wake up super early are amazing) and encouraging to see that I’m not the only one who lives a semi-chaotic existence! Thanks so much for hosting! 🙂

I love doing this with you every year. I’m so disappointed I didn’t get to this year. I think I’ll still do it and post it even if I’m not linking up. Once the little man gets more regular with his sleep schedule I’ll be able to get more on top of things.
