The whole reason I started my insane list of goals this year is because I wanted to be more intentional with my time. Now that summer is here I want to be intentional about enjoying it. It is easy for Nate and I to be so busy over the summer that we miss out on truly taking advantage of it. I started seeing summer lists popping up online. I was completely inspired when I saw these lists by Amy's Finer Things and Whatever. Enter my Summer Fun list of 2011! After brainstorming all the fun things we want to do this summer, I think we came up with a pretty great list. Here are the highlights: The Big Things: Our Cabin … [Read more...]
Toddler Belts Work If…
Just so you know... Making a belt for your toddler will only keep her pants up if you remember to put it on her. Poor Grace. At least she doesn't let it stop her from playing. (Yes, I realize that Grace playing on top of the toilet is gross. I let this happen only long enough to snatch this picture!) … [Read more...]
How to Make a Belt for Your Baby or Toddler
Baby's got BACK! Well.... actually no.... My baby doesn't have "back." My baby is actually quite small. Poor Grace is so small that we have a hard time keeping her pants up. She isn't a fan of this look. I kept thinking that this poor girl needed a belt, but they just don't make belts for toddlers. Fast forward to me shopping at Walmart. I found this 3-pack of belts at Walmart for about $6. Like I said they were in the tween/teen section, but any … [Read more...]
Our New Christmas Tradition: Bedtime Stories
Last year when Grace’s first Christmas was quickly approaching I felt this pressure to come up with Christmas traditions for our family. If you think about it, what we all remember the most from our holidays growing up are those special things we did as a family every single year. Family traditions are important! (At least I think so!!) Many of the traditions that we did as a family when I was growing up are things that we still do each year when we are with my parents over Christmas. We go to the Christmas Eve service at my parent’s church, hang up stockings when we get home, set out cookies for Santa (yep, we still do that!), read … [Read more...]
Lovin’ The Library: Summer Reading Programs
I am so excited about the summer reading programs at my local library. My library (and probably most libraries) have summer programs for children and adults. I signed Grace up for the children’s program under the “non-reader” category. :) All I have to do is read her 30 books, write down the titles and turn in the form. Once I turn in her completed form she will get to pick a prize/toy from a box and will get some coupons. The coupons are for a free ticket to a local baseball game, a free train ride on a touristy railroad in my area and a free ice cream cone from McDonalds. I’ve been told that as kids get older and start reading the … [Read more...]
