Baby’s got BACK!
Well…. actually no…. My baby doesn’t have “back.” My baby is actually quite small.
Poor Grace is so small that we have a hard time keeping her pants up.
She isn’t a fan of this look.
I kept thinking that this poor girl needed a belt, but they just don’t make belts for toddlers.
Fast forward to me shopping at Walmart. I glance across the isle and see 3 skinny belts in the tween section. They were perfect!
Let operation Keep-Up-My-Baby’s-Pants begin!
Step 1: Find a skinny belt.
I found this 3-pack of belts at Walmart for about $6. Like I said they were in the tween/teen section, but any skinny belt could work. You may even have one in your own closet! Another great place to look is any thrift store. That might be the cheapest place to find one.
Step 2: Add new holes.
Put your new belt on that adorable toddler of yours and take note of where new holes should be added. Then find someone with a belt hole punch to add the new holes.
I had holes added at the mall. I stopped at a kiosk that was selling belts and speciality belt buckles. The gentleman running the kiosk was so nice! He added several holes to all three of my belts and refused to take any money for it.
Besides random belt kiosks at the mall, I would check at leather or shoe repair shop. Or you could purchase your own leather hole punch from Amazon for about $10.
Step 3: Trim off extra belt.
Grab a pair of scissors and trim your toddler belt down to size. My hero at the mall kiosk recommends sealing the trimmed end with super glue. I didn’t do that, but if I notice one of Grace’s belts fraying then I’ll add it.
Step 4: Do the Happy Dance with your little one & rejoice in pants that stay up!
This is a much better look, don’t you think?
Making a belt for my toddler has saved me money, time and frustration. I can embrace hand-me-downs and sales racks with out worrying about her pants being a “perfect” fit. Plus Grace can wear her pants longer since I don’t have to wait for her to grow into the waist.
