Miscarriage & Grief: the stupidest things make me cry

September 20, 2016 by Rebekah Hoffer 12 Comments

one woman's thoughts on the never ending grief of miscarriage

This post was written on April 16, 2016. It was 4 months after my miscarriage and about 1 month before I would find out that I am pregnant once again. I am finally ready to share this with you. It is a mere glimpse into the grief I experienced after the miscarriage.  *** Today I sent my girlfriend a text message that said, "I weeded. And I didn't cry!" Once again I was reminded that grief is not a once and done process. You don't cry all of your tragic tears in one week, one month, or one year, and then move on. You don't get it out of your system. And something I'm learning even more is that the stupidest things will make me cry. … [Read more...]

I am Pregnant!

August 11, 2016 by Rebekah Hoffer 13 Comments

Adorable pregnancy announcement for a family with an even number of boy and girl siblings!

I am thrilled to share with you that we are expecting our 3rd baby. Yep! I am pregnant! In January "Team Girl" or "Team Boy" will be getting a new member. First of all, let's dig into the fun stuff before I share some of the struggles we had getting to this point. What is your due date? -  mid January 2017 How far along are you? - I am 17 weeks, and tomorrow I will start month number 5! How are you feeling? - I am feeling much better now that I am in the 2nd trimester. The 1st trimester was not much fun. I was exhausted, light headed, and very nauseous. I never threw up, but I would gag or dry heave daily if not multiple times a day. … [Read more...]

13 Baby Products That Might Not Be On Your Radar …But Totally Should Be!

February 18, 2015 by Rebekah Hoffer 18 Comments

Just imagine that we are sitting on my couch and I’m sharing with you all the things I wish I had known when I was creating my baby registry. These are 13 baby products you want to make sure to have on your registry.

You are thinking about your baby registry and you are stressing the heck out! The list you got from the store has approximately 1 billion suggestions on it. You know you don't need all of it. You know they are trying to sell you stuff so of course they are telling you to register for 20 crib blankets. You know that much, but what you don't know is what you actually need and what you don't. So you are freaking out and having a breakdown in the Babies R Us bathroom. Oh wait. Maybe that was just me when I was pregnant with my first baby. True story. I am here to take some of the mystery out of your baby registry. First of all, let me tell you … [Read more...]

I’m Scared to Have 2 Kids: an update 2 years later

July 15, 2014 by Rebekah Hoffer 91 Comments

Two years ago I confessed my fears of having a second child. Now I'm sharing my 3 struggles with the transition, how having 2 kids is actually easier, and the 6 questions I ask myself when I think of having a third.

On April 23, 2012 I took a deep breath and published a blog post that I was nervous to share. I confessed that my swollen belly made me anxious. I wasn't ready to have two kids. In fact, I was flat out scared that I wasn't going to be able to step up to the challenge. Ironically, the same day that I published that post ended up being was the same day my second child was born. Today my little Noah is over two years old and I think it is finally time for an update. So is it scary having more than one kid? Yes. And no. Parenthood is scary in general. I don't think it matters if you have 1 kid or 11 kids. I'm confident that I will always be … [Read more...]

14 Things You Need for Your Postpartum Body: a pre-baby shopping list for mommy!

This post contains affiliate links. Diapers?  Check.  Onesies?  Check.  Car seat?  Check.  Things to help you take care of your postpartum body?  Umm... When I was pregnant with Grace, I came up with a list of questions for all of my mom friends.  I asked for advice about different registry items, handling guests at the hospital, favorite pregnancy books, and more.  The very last question was, "What else do I need to know?  What did I forget?"  Again and again my friends pointed out that I had forgotten about me. If you are expecting your first baby, don't forget to add some must needed mommy items to your pre-baby shopping list! 14 … [Read more...]

Swagbucks Paid for My Maternity Clothes {plus a sign up bonus code}

November 23, 2013 by Rebekah Hoffer 1 Comment

Swagbucks Paid for my Maternity Clothes

The first time I heard about Swagbucks in 2008, I was pretty skeptical.  Does this really work?  It is going to take forever to earn any prizes, right?  I had my doubts about the whole thing, but I used it for a month and earned enough points for a $5 Starbucks gift card.  From that moment on, I was was hooked. My husband and I had plans to start a family soon, so I decided to save up my Swagbucks points for Target gift cards that I could use on maternity clothes.  After a year of using Swagbucks faithfully, I earned $180 in Target gift cards. How did I earn so much money so fast?  Of course I used Swagbucks for searching, entered Swag … [Read more...]
