Enduring Finger Paint

This week I introduced Grace to finger paints for the first time.  I felt like a super mom because messy crafts tend to scare me.

She had no idea what finger paints were.  Can’t you tell how thrilled she was to get started? ha!

It didn’t take her long to get into it.

AHH!!  Look at all that mess!

Grace only painted with one hand and mostly just one finger, but…  She kept signing for more paint, which involves touching her fingers together.  Grace would sign for more paint and then with her “clean” hand she would play with her feet under the table.

Are you kidding me?!?!  She had paint on her feet!!!

But she loved it.  Just look at this face.  The mess was totally worth it.

Love her!!

What activity do you endure for the sake of your children?

  1. I endure the sand box. There’s sand in the diaper, in the hair, on the feet, in the mouth – but it’s all worth it to see her smile. (oh, and having baths helps too 😉 )

    1. Miranda, I’m a little jealous that you have a sandbox! No joke, I’ve been letting Grace play in a window box filled with potting soil all summer. It isn’t exactly the cleanest activity. 🙂 I want to make a sandbox out of a storage tub. Have you seen those online?

      1. I haven’t – sounds interesting! Want to know how we do it? We have a pile of sand in our yard. Yup – the lazy man’s way ;). The previous owners put it there and we just tilled it through to make more soft sand and it’s been a fun sandbox ever since!

  2. We endured painting this week as well…but a different kind. Hubby re-built a toy box for the boys and sanded down my old toy box for the girls, and I got to work painting..but of course the kids wanted to help, so that was my adventure this week…finding out a way the big kids could help me paint, but still having the toy boxes look nice. (I know I could have just let them pain all over it, and called it kiddie art since it’s going in their rooms but I had an idea for how I wanted them to look that I loved!) I’m happy to say they turned out great! I’ll be sharing pics soon! 🙂

    1. I’m not the only one!!!! Praise God! I have a summer fun list that I should be letting Grace cross things off of, but…. I’m not. I want it to look nice! I’m such a bad mommy. 🙂

  3. I endure play doh. I hate it, the kids love it. Ick. I even make the homemade kind for them.

I can say that they have gotten better with it over time. LOL
ps.. you are brave- finger paints, oh my!
