Feelin’ Frugal: Free Professional Portraits

Professional portraits are a fun way to capture changes in your family over time.  It isn’t always so much fun to pay for these photos!  Thankfully, I’ve been able to have Grace’s 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, 1-year and 18-month pictures taken for free.

When I was pregnant with Grace I started getting coupons for all kinds of things in the mail.  One coupon that stood out to me was an offer from Picture People, a professional photo studio usually located in malls and currently in 29 states.  Picture People never charges for a sitting fee and often send out coupons for a free 8×10 or 10×13 print.

With my coupon in hand, I’ve ventured to the mall 4 times to have Grace’s pictures taken.  Each time I’ve walked out with my free 8×10 and paid nothing for a great professional portrait of my little one.

For Grace’s 1-year photos, we “splurged” on another coupon offer and bought 6 photo sheets for $18. Normally each sheet is $18 each.  We ordered enough pictures for Christmas presents and Christmas card inserts for our family.

The key to making this deal work for you is self control! There will be more than one picture that you love, but you can only choose one.   😉  Picture People used to email you the entire photo session if you decided later that you simply must order another print.  You could also share that album with friends and family and they could place orders online if they are tempted too much by your cutie.  Sadly, they do not have photos available online anymore. I was extremely disappointed to learn this during Grace’s 18 month photo session and it made walking away with just one photograph really hard.

Picture People isn’t just for babies! They love to photograph:

  • Babies & Children of all ages
  • Families
  • Maternity
  • Pets
  • Couples & Engagment Photos
  • Special Occasions: Graduation, Baptism, Sports, Sweet 16, Holidays, etc.

Download your own coupon for a free 8×10 or 10×13 print or coupon for the $18 bundle.

Have you ever taken advantage of Picture People’s free photo coupons?  Have you had frugal success at other commercial photography studios?

I have not been paid to promote Picture People, but if they want to pay me I’ll take it!!!   😉

I took my Girl Scout troop to picture place last month and they were amazing! The girls learned what it takes to be a photographer, different poses, lightening, and got to take pictures of each other and see how pictures are developed. They even got to take a group picture and select one pose they liked of themselves. They were super nice and the pictures looked GREAT! I ordered a 5×7 (silly face) and 8×10 of the girls.

Melissa, what a great idea for a field trip! I’ve always had good experiences there.
