While I was at Kmart the other day, I decided to look around for things I could put into an Easter basket for Grace. She is only six months old, but I still thought it would be fun to get her something.
As I was looking around the large section devoted to Easter things I noticed two things:
1) There is barely anything appropriate for a 6 month old Easter basket
2) There is no Jesus.
I looked all over and I couldn’t find a single religious item! I was especially interested in getting a book for Grace’s basket, but all of the books were about bunnies! ALL OF THEM! It is so sad that I have to go HUNTING for religious Easter items.
Disclaimer: On a second visit to Kmart I happened to notice some chocolate crosses on a very small bottom shelf. I can’t believe I missed them the first time. (Please note the sarcasm.)
Here is what I have decided to put into Grace’s Easter basket:
Ring Teether – Grace constantly wants to chew on things. I am hoping that she’ll be able to hold onto this teether easier than the one we have for her already.
Bubbles – Obviously Grace is too young to blow bubbles on her own, but I can’t wait to see her reaction them.
Burt Bee’s Baby Bubble Bath – I am really into natural and “green” things right now. I get nervous about Grace putting her soapy hands in her mouth during bath time unless I really trust the product. This bubble bath is perfect.
I am still hoping to find a nice board book about the true Easter story. You know, one that involves Jesus as the main character instead of a bunny.
Update: After looking in a total of FOUR stores I was finally able to find a great board book that clearly tells the Easter story!
