Nine Months to Gain, Nine Months to Lose!

There is this great saying, “Nine months to gain, nine months to lose!”  When I was pregnant and shortly after Grace was born, I thought was the best saying ever.  It was so freeing.  I felt like it relieved me of that pressure to get my pre-pregnancy body back right away.  I loved it.

Now Grace is 9 months old.  I hate that saying.

I’m not sure of my current weight because my scale isn’t accurate, but I know I don’t really have much more weight to lose.  Still, my body isn’t the same as it once was!  I didn’t expect that it would be, but as Grace is getting older it is a little harder to hold onto that excuse that I “just” had a baby.

The real question though is what I am doing about it.  The answer to that is: NOTHING!  I eat something sweet every day.  Every SINGLE day.  Often more than once a day.  Plus I’m not very active.  I never exercise on purpose.  I guess I better get my butt in gear if I want to see some changes, right?

Praise the Lord that I don’t look like this anymore!  This was taken 6 days before Grace was born.

Update:  Yesterday I bought a pair of shorts in my regular pre-pregnancy size!  WHOO-HOO!

What are your post baby body thoughts and tips?

Oh, Girl, you said it perfectly! We’ve all been there. I started off this pregnancy with 10 pounds to lose from my first! I know people who say they don’t worry about losing all the weight between kids—they wait until they are done having kids then put the extra effort into getting back into shape. The funny thing is, when you’re pregnant, especially towards the end, you can’t wait to start losing weight. I’m already to that point and I’m already thinking about how motivated I’m going to be to lose it this time and all that—Ha Ha–I’m sure I won’t be saying the same thing this winter!

Now’s the time for you to start reciting “Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.”

I have never had a baby so I can’t give advice on that end. but as a person who’s been exercising regularly since 2003 I do have some ideas on that end. 1st and foremost, find something you enjoy doing. You’ll never stick with it if you don’t enjoy it. Like walking and pushing Grace in the stroller. With your diet, cut down on portions and include more fruits and veggies. When you want something sweet eat fruit instead (and try not to keep sweet things in the house!). Finally get into a routine, you know every night before bed do some exercises with light weights. Don’t think of it as losing weight, think of it as getting in shape and being more healthy so that you are around longer for Grace! Hope that helps and good luck!!

I really wanted to lose weight before I got pregnant so that when I told people I was expecting they would see a baby bump and not a fat lump! Honestly, I lost 15 pounds just by changing jobs! The lighting department kicked my tubby butt! 🙂 Of course that isn’t what you want to hear since you left lighting… Clearly, I’m not a good person for weight loss advice, after all I am the one that wrote this post to begin with!
