My Solution for Not Eating Organic Produce
I don’t like the idea of eating food with insecticides or other chemicals sprayed on them, but buying organic produce can be hard. My local grocery store has a very limited amount of organic produce and my favorite farm stand doesn’t sell any. (Perhaps I should find a new favorite farm stand, huh?)
Instead of dwelling on the fact that I’m not eating organic fruits and vegetables, I use Veggie Wash.
I first found Veggie Wash in the produce section at my grocery store. It is made from organic citrus and other natural sounding ingredients. I spray it on all my produce and then rinse the food in water.
The Veggie Wash website says:
Are you still rinsing with water alone? Pesticides and other agricultural chemicals are specifically engineered to be “waterproof” so that they are not washed off by rain and irrigation. Veggie Wash® safely and effectively removes wax, soil and agricultural chemicals found on standard and organic produce. It cuts through the wax and chemicals to leave fruits and vegetables truly, safely clean. What’s more, Veggie Wash® is 100% natural, using ingredients from citrus, corn and coconut to remove harmful substances.
Is it as good as buying organic food? Probably not. Have I scientifically tested it to see if it works? No, but…
I feel better about the non-organic food I am eating and serving my family when I wash it first with Veggie Wash. That peace of mind means a lot to me. There are plenty of other things in life for me to feel guilty about. I’ll gladly spray my fruit with this stuff and call it good enough.
These opinions and feel-good feelings about Veggie Wash are all my own. I was not asked to review Veggie Wash or compensated for doing so. However, if the lovely Veggie Wash people want to giveaway a bunch of bottles to my readers I won’t turn them down! *wink-wink*

I fill my sink with cold water and put in a splash of White Vinegar. It does a great job of cleaning my fruits and veggies!
That is a fantastic option!
I understand the need for more than just water to rinse but what happens to the pesticide that has seeped into the friut? It isn’t so much that it rests ON the fruit, that’s true, but like the water, nutrients from the soil and the pesticides the plant “ingests” if you will, all those things in it’s growing.
You are 100% correct that toxins are deeper in the plants than just laying on the surface. However, using this veggie wash is better than just water alone. It is all about taking baby steps. Organic is best. Washed produce is next best.
