The Just Clean Something Challenge {day 20}

Welcome to the second update of the Just Clean Something Challenge! I made it my goal to clean at least one thing in my house every day in July.  Let’s see how I did.
{day 10}
Wiped Down Kitchen Appliances
I took Grace to the doctor today for a follow up from her ER visit two days earlier. Â We also started using gentian violet on Noah to stop his thrush. Â Gentian violet turns him (and everything it touches!) bright purple. Â I’m feeling stressed out and gave my appliances a quick wipe just to say I’ve done something.

{day 11}
Cleaned One Toilet
My Facebook status for day 11 read:Â I cleaned a toilet. Â And went to the ER. Â And thought I was going to lose my mind. Â *sigh*
Yep, I went back to the ER today.  This time it was for Noah.  He fell, cut his head open, and needed a staple.  In the past four days I’ve been to the doctor twice and the ER twice.  Each time it was for a different kid.  I want to crawl into bed and sleep for a month.

{day 12}
Cleaned Sand Off My Feet
I went to the beach with my girlfriends for the weekend and we didn’t bring our kids!!! Â This was a much needed break after the hospital chaos of the past few days. Â I fully intended on cleaning something before I left in the morning, but it didn’t happen.
{day 13}
Swept the Kitchen & Half Bath, Vacuumed the Living Room, All Bedrooms, and Stairway
I got home from my girls weekend early afternoon. Â I had no desire to clean, but I pushed through it. Â I think I made up for missing the day before.
{day 14}
Dusted the Play Kitchen
The kids’ play kitchen is one piece of furniture that always gets missed when I clean. Â It collects dust like regular furniture (shocking, right?), but I always seem to overlook it.
{day 15}
Cleaned All 7 Mirrors
I didn’t realize I had so many mirrors in my house.
{day 16}
Reorganized Toy Storage, Wiped Down Kitchen Appliances, & Cleaned Fingerprints Off Walls
I reorganized the kids’ toy today. Â They were awake. Â It took forever and was extremely frustrating. Â Learn from my mistakes, folks. Â Never attempt that kind of thing while the children are awake. Â You will lose your mind.
{day 17}
Swept Kitchen, Dining Room, & Entryway, Washed Changing Table Pads, and Shook Out the Floor Mats
It had been a long time since I took the floor mats outside and shook them out.  It was disgusting how much dirt came out of them.  How do you normally clean your floor mats?  Vacuum?  Washing machine?  Shake ’em?
{day 18}
Cleaned Cobwebs Off Walls
It sounds really ambitious of me to clean my walls, but honestly I was just trying to think of something quick I could do. Â AND IT WAS QUICK!!! Â Why do I put these things off for so long???

{day 19}
Reorganized & Cleaned Out Pantry
One of my friends is moving and she gave me two grocery bags full of food. Â It was great, but then I had to find a place for all of it. Â I gave my pantry some much needed attention and all the new food fit great. Â The before and after pictures really don’t do it justice.
{day 20}
Dusted Living Room & Wiped Down Toys
I didn’t wait until the evening to do my cleaning project today! Â Whoo-hoo!
{Thoughts}
I am getting so terribly sick of this challenge. Â Who’s dumb idea was this?!?!?! Nearly every night I find myself rushing around to clean something so I can post the Facebook “Roll Call.” Â Cleaning all the mirrors in the house? Â Sure, they needed to be cleaned, but I only picked that task because it would take me less than five minutes.
{To My Fellow Cleaners}
You are the only reason I am sticking with this.  Thank you for checking in with me each day in my nightly “Roll Call.” If you blog about your experience, feel free use the graphic above and share links to your posts in the comments.
**This challenge’s last day was July 31, but I’m behind on posting my progress updates. Â Stay tuned for my final updates and free free to do your own challenge in August!
What is your normal cleaning routine? Â Do you do daily tasks on a regular basis?

Congrats on making it through the month of July squeaky clean 🙂
THANK YOU!!! I am sooooo glad this challenge is over.
You were an inspiration. I always find myself in the rut of dishes, laundry, floors, counters…. dishes, laundry, floors, counters. I need to find time to do something else. I feel like there is an inch of dust on all the surfaces in my living room, alone.
I love love love these posts! Since becoming a new mom in July I struggle with keeping my house clean. It is hard to find a balance between caring for a new baby while finding time to dust, clean floors & scrub toilets! Who has the energy? Breaking it down one chor at a time makes so much sense! While reading your hilarious comments I had a thought- Does cleaning yourself count? Its sometimes a struggle to find time to shower! Thanks for the great post, I think I will try this for October!
With a newborn cleaning yourself TOTALLY counts!
Congrats on your new baby. Good luck with finding your new “normal” and getting into a routine. I would love to hear how the cleaning challenge works for you during October. Let me know!
